Taking care of your porcelain tiles

Thursday, 9 November 2017 12:40:14 Europe/London

Porcelain tiles are known for being a low maintenance product. The care needed remains the same whether you are using them as wall tiles or floor tiles. All our porcelain products at MegaTiles are fully sealed and treated. We do not supply porcelain wall and floor tiles that are manufactured without the seal pre-applied. This takes away the cost of the seal, hiring machinery and/or professionals (if the area is large) to carry out the treatment process and most of all, you save the time needed to do this as the area would need to be cleared, cleaned and left unused while the seal dries. Now, moving on to regular cleaning, as mentioned before, porcelain tiles are low maintenance products. So, you do not need to use strong chemicals (this may reduce the life of the seal). We recommend using simple things like washing up liquid / detergent and water solution or a steam mop. This will preserve the life of the seal and keep the tiles’ appearance at their best. Normally, for plain porcelain tiles (regardless of colour), dust / marks / smears do show more. The best way is to use a dry cloth / microfibre cloth to wipe down the surface to keep it looking spotless. This is one benefit of using porcelain tiles with subtle patterns as this hides dust / marks. The same theory applies for granite tiles, marble tiles and quartz tiles. If you’re a pet owner using polished porcelain flooring, you will soon realise that your pet (especially dogs) normally won’t like it! If this is the case, there is a simple solution, an anti slip treatment that will take away the slipperiness but not the shine. It’s a win-win situation! With the vast array of designs and sizes available in porcelain tiles they are becoming increasingly popular. This has already replaced ceramic floor and wall tiles as well as terracotta tiles which were previously the main choices for flooring. Now with new technology, porcelain tiles are replicating natural stone looks so you can benefit from having a natural stone flooring without the regular maintenance required of maintaining natural stone tiles.Read More
